The fact of the matter is we all get caught up on what we need to do. When you look at it in the end though what most people don't take into consideration is the fact that it is usually for someone or something else that has nothing to do with benefiting you. I know what you're thinking...'that's being selfish'. It is if you're doing it everyday. What I think though is that 8 hours PER WEEK should feed that craving of 'selfishness' and give you a sudden burst of more energy to do for others. It's Friday and for most people that's the kick off to the 'Me-Time'. What I'm saying today is to make sure it is for YOU and not the 'YES-honies of the world, or 'WHATever YOU guys' want to do. MAKE OUT TO BE ALL ABOUT YOU. The only way to do that is to be conscientious of your actions and thoughts. Easier said than done. Good luck.

Time to Work

Do you ever feel like you just can't get out of the gate to getting things done? The list gets longer but the results are never insight. I'm not talking about adding mundane tasks that need not get done. I'm talking about priorities of things that just keep piling up. I know I know...get an assistant. The bottom line is this...you never get caught up. The only thing you can do though is hedge against the important things and make sure you focus on the 75 of the 75/25 rule (See Pareto's principle) to make things happen. I get caught in the 'matrix' of this job at times in the end being harder on myself than I probably should be. I guess you would call that 'being your own boss'. At the end of the day the buck stops with me. I'm not getting a check if I take the slacker route of getting things done so it's imperative to make the most of my time. That brings me full circle...it was 85 degrees...inside the house. AC on the fritz...that left me being in the house 'working' in the jungle heat of my office while Sanitago fixed the AC. Think I got any work done?...NO. No excuse but today was not a work-day-mentality.
